I can never keep it straight. Is it maxima that likes the rock? Also, how many watts per gallon do you recommend? Are any of you keeping clams under pc's? Just a few questions

Maxima and crocea will adhere to rock and should be high in your tank.
Squamosa ,derasa and hippopus should be on the sand. If you have pc lighting I would recommend a squamosa or derasa. Depending on the size and depth of your tank you should have at least 300-400W pc to keep these clams. The watts/gallon theory is not really a good way to judge adequate lighting. The PAR/PFFD are better indices. I do have some clients keeping maxima under pc with success but I usually recommend MH. Hope this helps. Adam |

Thanks Adam. I'm gonna put a clam in the 55 but I just don't know what kind yet. Its gonna have 260w of pc's and a DSB so the substrate will only be about 13-14in from the top o the water. I used to have a derasa before the crash of 98 (long story, different tank) Thanks for the input, if I do get a clam I'll be relying heavily on you clam buffs for advice
