How often do you feed fish to a lizard blenny?
Why does it seem he is not eating the same as he used to eat.
I used to give him 2 fish in am, and 1 in pm. He doesn't seem to even want 1 fish. Can he be over fed or can he be getting sick?We also feed him brine shrimp once a day. Thanks for any answers.

That is way too much food! Feed him frozen shrimp (small thawed pieces) from the store once every couple of days. You will pollute your tank if you keep feeding him at your current rate.

As you can see from the link Kevinpo gave to the so-called Lizard Blenny on the Drs. Foster & Smith website, ignorance in this hobby is not limited to underpaid employees of local fish stores. One of the things you will quickly pick up on as you get deeper into the hobby is that common names are used and misused to the point that they add to the overall state of confusion. In this case the common name that Drs. Foster & Smith are using for the fish pictured is totally wrong! I don't care how many other wholesalers and retailers are using the same stupid common name, it is totally wrong. That fish is not a blenny of any sort!

Parapercis schauinslandii is a member of the Family Pinquipedidae (Sandperches) and not the Family Blenniidae (Blennies). http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/Spec...schauinslandii

(P.S. -- All members of the genus Parapercis belong to the Family Pinquipedidae (Sandperches) and Drs. Foster & Smith have identified their fish as a Parapercis sp. fish.)

I have seen those fish online called just about everything except what they actually are. Usually when they aren't sure what they have they just call it a Scooter Blenny. I have seen members of the Family Pinquipedidae (Sandperches) and the Family Callionymidae (Dragonets) called Scooter Blennies. That's when they aren't being called Gobies. And of course the two Mandarin species are almost always called Mandarin Gobies instead of what they really are, Mandarin Dragonets.

Maybe I'm just too nitpicky but it really infuriates me when the LFS in my area refuse to use correct names, even correct common names, even after it is pointed out to them that they are wrong. Their attitude is "I've been doing this for 15 years, don't try to tell me the names of the fish." They had a tank labelled "Sebae Clownfish" next to a tank labelled "Sebae Anemones." They told me the reason they do that is so that their customers will see which anemone they should buy to go with their clownfish purchase. In fact, true Sebae Clowns (Amphiprion sebae) do not accept Sebae Anemones (Heteractis crispa). Fortunately for their customers, the Clark's Clownfish (A. clarkii) that they have misidentified will accept Sebae Anemones (H. crispa).

Good luck in your quest to properly identify whatever it is the LFS guy sold you but stop feeding it freshwater feeder fish.
