Yeah, I'm looking at it everyday now, contemplating on how to trim everything back again. Having small tank for sps sucks...

If you hadn't put those new lites on there Gene, you wouldn't have this growth problem.

I sure hope it isn't just the lights, though.

I am sure it isn't. But the coloration sure is.
I do know that when I changed from 20k to 10k in my 300, there was a growth spurt I could not believe. Kevin told me that was going to happen, and I didn't really think anything of it until about 2 months later.

Looking great Gene! Sorry about your angel, that was a pretty fish.

As for trimming the caps, it looks like you need an underwater dremel! (Wouldn't that come in handy!?) I'll bet a stubby hacksaw blade will work though.

Hey Gene, I know this is crazy, but since your Angel jumped out, you can get a new one...

I have a friend with a healthy C. Joculator that he is trying to sell...

He is selling it because he was accepted to U of M medical school, not bad for a 19 year old huh? Oh... and you can have this little beauty for ONLY $800!!!

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

I think I'll pass on this one, Mike! Little too pricey for el cheapo like myself...

Though, you can pass along my congrats on med school, it is a wonderful accomplishment for a 19 year old.

Hehe... To much for me too! Especially for a fish that looks so much like a rock beauty! It is a cool fish though...

Yeah, it;s a cool fish but I settled on the Solar wrasse C.solorensis.
LFS had couple of nice lamark's angels but I chose the wrasse.

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

I hope that your tank is covered well. My solarensis wrasse attempts flight on a regular basis. I often hear him bouncing off the lights and flopping around on the overflow covers. Once, I had one of the doors on the front of my canopy open and I saw something fly past my shoulder. The wrasse landed behind me on the couch and disappeared between the cushions. I scooped him up and dropped him back in the tank, complete with a lint overcoat.

Other than the propensity for aerobatics, they are great fish. I saw some females recently and would dearly love to provide my male with a harem, but I am afraid what would happen if they didn't get along. They are cagey and amazingly fast. Catching them would be a challenge. When I had to remove my Atlantic tang using a trap, the wrasse was the only fish in the tank that gave the trap a wide berth. Every other fish was in and out of the trap at least a couple of times.

That is a cool shot, Doug!
I'm going to HD to pick up some eggcrate and put over the tank today. For now he just investigating the tank and checking all the nooks and crevices in the rockwork. He is really tiny, maybe an inch and a half at the moment.

On a side note, I haven;t seen my Coral Beauty angel either today. I wonder where his nasty self is gone.

Re: My tank is starting to look better, I think

I've finally found where my Porcelain crab hangs out... the space is like quarter inch wide under this monti cap so pardon the quality on this shot.

There was also something interesting right by his claw but I couldn't tell if it's one of his apendages or not. Anyone have any ideas? Here's a closer shot.

I also managed to catch my bristletooth just hanging around watching something. Usually he's cruising at the speed of light and it's almost impossible to take a decent shot.

And this guy almost always peeks out at the time of feeding and just about always gets something landing right next to him, I wonder how that happens..

Good time management I would suspect.

I have no idea what that thing is by the crab, Gene. Nice pics. Is that the actual color on your bristletooth?

Charlie,

The tang is more on the brownish/blue side than the blue that you see in that picture. The reason for the blue cast is that he was directly under actinic VHO bulb and bluish hues in his chest and head came out more than usual.

Anyways, I got couple of better shots of my new wrasse.

I also got not so good picture of the newest resident of my tank, Centropyge argi.

PS> Forgot to add that mistery of that striped thing in the picture of the porcelain crab is solved. It is indeed one of his apendages.

Gene, those are GREAT! I like the Solarensis, make sure you get a companion for it though, mine lost almost all its color over a period time before it jumped out....

I really like the last picture of your wrasse, you can see a LOT of detail in that one.
