Close, but its Rapid Tissue Necrosis.
A disease which results in tissue sloughing of coral polyps with progressive death of the coral. It can spread throughout the tank to other corals resulting in massive coral die-off. It is not well understood scientifically. The few articles I've read on the subject suggest a possible bio-chemical as the means of spread. This was postulated because, studies with filters small enough to filter both virus and bacteria still resulted in spread of the disease. Brien |

Rapid Tissue Necrosis, and this bad problem only attacks sps corals. I have never had it in any montipora spp. but acropora watch out. The Borneman article is outstanding. Some think it is in all our tanks and only rears it's ugly head when a coral gets stressed. Then the chemical chain reaction happens and it can wipe out a whole sps system.
