Post Sally Lightfoot crabs?

I hear these guys are good consumers of hair algae, but can be agressive towards fish if there isn't enough to be found. I've got a ton of it in my tank.

Any experiences, anyone?

I have 5 Sally's in my 210 reef. They have finished off the algae and do not mess with my fish at all. They just scavenge around the LR and sandbed.I have heard that when they get large they can kill fish fish, but I have yet to witness this.

I've had them for 14 months without a problem. After 14 months they should be fully grown already. Of course if something is constantly deprived of food (ie you've got a sterile tank void of food or maybe a really small tank) somethings gonna give. Just my 2c.

I've heard sally's can be a problem, but I've had mine for a year and it's been the ideal tank mate. Active and visible most of the time yet never bothers any of the other tank inhabitants. Actually my cleaner shrimp is more of a nuissance as it lunges after fish occasionally. It's just very aggressive about cleaning, I suppose!

I had a Sally for ~ 9 mo - it killed at least 4 or 5 shrimp. Every time one of my skunk cleaners would molt it would eat it. It was a pretty big one though, the small ones might be alright.

Thanks everyone, for your advice. They have some small ones at a nearby LFS, so I think I'll go check 'em out one more time.
