You probably have some, just not a large enough population to see them. Scan the surface of the sandbed really close and you might see some. I beleive you can buy pod culture kits at www.ipsf.com

If you look carefully at your rocks or sand, you may see little "bugs" crawling around anywhere from 1/8 inch up to 1/2-5/8 inch. The really small ones are copepods and the bigger ones are amphipods.

If you do not, you can get live sand and kits from several places:

Ahh I havnt noticed any bugs on the sand at all. mmmm
and with the costs of shipping it makes everything 3 times its worth and 3 times its worth is too much for my budget
    . thanks for the input

If you have some local reefers or a good LFS, then you may be able to talk them into giving or selling you some live sand with pods or some macroalgae that has some growing in it.

How old is your tank? When the lights are off, wait a few hours, then take a red flashlight and look under the rocks, in the sump and on the sand. If you see little thingies running around you have Pods! A good starter kit can be ordered from www.ipsf.com.

djskott Your tank might be too young. Try looking at night like I suggested, and if you don't see any get one of those amphipod things at www.ipsf.com or one of the other dealers. Maybe your LFS will let you scoop some up from their tanks?
