These fish are algae blennie with two horns above their eyes. Long slender body. Cheeks will turn white in large specimen as a sign of aggression or dominance. The problem is i cannot find them in the books. They are the most personable fish I have ever kept and are my most demanded saltwater fish. I want to try breeding them. I have recently set up a pair of Orchid Dottybacks for this reason and would love to try to breed these Tidepool Bleenies.
i just can't find aqany info on them... Anyone have any help for me? ------------------ Todd A Phillips My 120gallon Reef Tank |

Joe:
Sorry for jumping in but I just had to comment on this fish. I have one of them. I've seen them referred to as lawnmower blennies or jewelled rockskipper. They act both their names. I got it to eat algae which it does except the bryopsis. It's getting really fat. I have had mine for less than 2 months and it indeed is my favorite fish. What personality. It watches me work sitting on its curled up "tail". Then when I get up it follows me around waiting to be fed. It comes all the way up to the top of the aquarium and takes the food from my hand. Then scrapes it clean. It feels a little bit like a cat's rough tongue. I do taxes and of course this is the middle of tax season. My clients get a real show and everybody loves it. Todd, if this is your fish I hope you are successful breeding them. Claude |

That is him!!!
They seem to be most interesting when they are larger. They lose the camouflage markings and game a slightly red hue (very slight). i actually have two of these guys in the 120 now along with a Red lip blenny. The small Tidepool aka Rock Blenny gets chased but he stays camouflage most the time and eats great. I could catch the large one any time as he will swim into anything including my nets to eat. I just got 8 more for the shop on Thursday and have sold them all but 2. I believe,I could be greedy and easily fetch $30 to $40 for each, but i don't. I price all my fish based upon a normal markup vs the price I pay for them. This time I am selling them for $24.99. Last time I got them, I sold them for $18.99. Next time ...who knows. As for him disappearing on that last post. He might have jumped. A customer of mine said his jumped and flip flopped down a 20 foot hall way. He's back in the tank now. rather lucky but unharmed. ------------------ Todd A Phillips My 120gallon Reef Tank |

Mine is 5-6" and very fat. I paid $15.00 for him/her. Best $15.00 I ever spent. All my tax client fall in love with him! i keep flakes at the ready and show him off eating from my fingers. A real conversation piece.
I hope I don't lose power to night, we're in Pa and are having a real bad storm. Claude |
