We stayed at the Queen Kap, across from the park/zoo. Easy walk to the aquarium. I think the only days I never went, was the day before and the day of my daughters wedding. And perhaps the day we were leaving. Momma use to go to the Marketplace & I the other direction.

Very nice pics again. Some excellent ones. We tried with a tripod, but as you say, hard with the people there. Did you go for a back tour. We went, but missed a chance to talk with Charles. Was out when we were in the back.

My problem with my Olympus camera is that it's strictly autofocus and I have never been able to figure out how to allow for shooting through acrylic tank walls and water. According to the camera's operating manual it is not possible to lock on a subject behind glass. They tell you to "first focus on an object at the same distance as the desired subject in the Spot mode, then aim at the desired subject and release the shutter." That's easier said than done. The camera has a built-in 38mm-110mm 3X zoom lens and the only way I seem to be able to get any depth of field beyond the tank glass is by setting it at 38mm and hoping for the best.

No, I didn't get to tour the back. I didn't ask.

That outdoor reef is awesome. Wish they had it when I was there last time 6 years ago (honeymoon). Is it on the place where they had the circular tank outdoors, when you enter to the left?

You didn't have time to snorkel at Hanauma Bay (not that far from the aquarium), did you? my wife never snorkeled before, and when she got there into the water, she got too nervous with all the fish swimming around our legs, even before we put the masks under water. Until this day, she still never went snorkeling with me.
    Maybe it's because of ME??

    Joaco,

If you are talking about the circular tank with Mahi Mahi, it's still there. The outdoor Edge of the Reef exhibit is on the oceanside, then you have the Monk Seal exhibit and in front of the Monk Seal exhibit is an oval shaped lawn area and to one side of that lawn area is a paved area with wooden benches, and about 8-ft in front of the benches is the outdoor reeftank.

Didn't snorkel Hanauma Bay, we did Kaneohe Bay instead. http://www.tombarefoot.com/oahu/capt_bobs_oahu.html

Everybody says Maui is better, so maybe next time we will go to Maui.

Well, have been in Maui too, and it IS nicer

There I went snorkeling to Molokini (where I saw a shark and freaked out like an ...). The boats leave from Lahaina (the old whale hunters village), and I stayed at Kaanapali Beach at the Sheraton Village: www.sheraton-maui.com

    Honeymooners...

Don't have time to scan pics and post them, but if anyone has been there, he knows how it looks like. If not and you ever have the chance to go, don't miss it!

Very nice pics. Thanks for sharing. I wish I had gone to the Waikiki Aq. when I was in Hawaii a few years ago. I saw the one on Maui, but somehow I missed this one.
As a nation, you're faced with the choice of taking over the world or offering good eats at reasonable prices.
