Hi Bubbafat,
It's the least I could do to help out the fellow hobbyist. Just drop me a line down the road when you do have a tank ready. I should have some interesting things by then. Thx. Rob rob@coralsandbar.com |

couple ?'s
How big are the frags...and your tanks don't have any aptasia do they? You can pick out ANY frag from your site, right?
Also, what are the requirements of clove/star/button polyps? Also is the Green Kenya Tree a soft coral?

Hi MastaJ,
Occasionally I'll have an aptasia or two in my tank. My peppermint and berghia nudibranchs take care of them quite nicely. Most of my frags are at least 1"+ in size unless otherwise specified. You can pick out any frag on my site that is available for sale. If it doesn't have a "buy it now" icon it is probably sold out. I do need to update the site a little b/c I do have some more items back for sale like frogspawn frags, torch coral frags, red/orange montiporra capricornis frags, green merulina w/purple valleys, green merulina (different shade than the purple valley one), purple, yellow, blue, and pink colored blasto (all colors on one polyp), screaming blue tipped echnita acropora, screaming green Fiji acro, yellow porites, and any other acros I can't think of at the moment. I also have a good selection of softies. Yes, the green Kenya/Colt is a soft coral. Thank you, Rob

Ok...Just got done looking at your site....I have a few ?'s as well
first off Do you have any of the Blastomussa left? if not when will you have any...and the same deal on the elephant skin (or i think you call it elephant ear) And one other thing, on the critters for sale page I believe what you have labeled as a Caped Crusader, is actually a flatworm wich is a parasite to alot of corals....I could be wrong though. |

Hi Scubadude,
I have some blasto that has yellow, purple, green and blue mixed in rings available. As for the red blasto I have a small piece that is my growout piece and is not for sale at this moment. (I should have more available down the road in a few weeks). I should be updating my site this evening after work and on through the night. The critters I call Caped Crusaders I have not noticed them giving any problems to corals. It is not like any flatworm I have ever seen. I believe it is some type of plankton. It literally flies around the tank like a cape. It's hard to get a pic tath looks good with something that small. Perhaps I can send you a JPEG movie of them in motion. They are very cool and bizarre. I have even noticed them in the tank when I didn't have any corals in it. It is packed with life from copepods, amphipods, caped crusaders, mama mia worms, caulerpa, mangroves, corals, and 1 seahorse. The mangroves keep the water in that tank crystal clear! Send me an e-mail to rob@coralsandbar.com and I'll send you a reply when I am done updating. Man, I haven't been scuba diving since x-mas of '97. I need to go again soon! Thx. Rob

Hi Scubadude,
I edited my post, sorry. I must have been thinking about sending an e-mail to John as I was replying to you. I must not have been awake yet... A little more Java finally woke me up. Thanks, Rob ![]()

Rob:
I have some of these "Caped Crusaders" in my sump. Dr. Ron identified them as a flatworm. I have not seen them in the main tank, however, who knows! ![]() Do you feel that the mangroves are beneficial? It seems the slow growth rate of the mangroves would limit their nutrient uptake. mgk |

Hi mgk65,
I'm surprised they are a type of flatworm. They haven't bothered anything of mine. They actually swim around the tank. Yeah, I have seen some beneficial use of the mangroves. It keeps my tank absolutely crystal clear. The water couldn't be anymore clear. Jason from PA has them in his rock curing pools and they keep the water crystal clear. I watched a discovery program and they talked about there was something like 15 million beneficial bacteria per sq centimeter of substrate. I've definitely noticed a lot more critters in my tank since the introduction of the mangroves, but I have been using reefsolutions as well. Rob

Rob:
Here is a link in Dr. Ron's forum, look for my post there for another link, as well. http://www.reefcentral.com/vbulletin...threadid=26869 I am going to set up a basement sump/refuge in addition to the sump/refuge that I currently have under my 90g. I'll have to consider the mangroves for that. Reefsolutions: I wonder what is in this stuff? Thanks, mgk |
