Starting new tank in Ky

I am setting up a new saltwater tank in Ky and was wondering if anyone knew of any good places to buy livestock locally or have any rock or fish they want to sell

Hi gebrony,

Where are you at in KY? We are located in Bardstown, about 45 minutes from Louisville and know of a nice store up there.

The store is Aquatica Reef and it is a saltwater specific store. They have a good selection and healthy livestock at a decent price.

But...where in KY are you at?

Hi Gebrony

NO.

Many reasons, including:

Gravity. If power fails the pump in the main display will continue to siphon water into the sump, causing a flood.

Volume. The pump in tank will not have any head pressure, so it will move more water then the pump in the sump. This will make it impossible to balance the input/output.

Effectiveness. You want to "skim" water from the surface, that is where the dissolved organic wastes collect. Also you want to have more movement here for gas exchange. If you pump water from somewhere else in the tank, you leave all crap on the top.

You may want to do a search here, just use "sump" and you will find TONS of info!

Re: Starting new tank in Ky

How far from Cincy, OH are you? There are 4 LFS around here that i go to and each one has different corals and fish to select from. There is also a reef club close to here but I'm sorry I cannot remember the member on here that belongs to it.

Re: Starting new tank in Ky

Gebrony,

You are a little ways away from cincy...if your looking for a bit of a road trip. Here are a couple of places i go around Cincy.

Welcome to Aquatics and Exotics Online

Not a bad place, selection is sometimes slim. Nice shark tank though

House Of Tropicls has all your freshwater & saltwater fish needs. Lighting, filtration,Metal Halide, water additives, joes juice, purpleup, and more...

I just went to this place today, it was very good a nice selection

Those are a couple i go to plus i have a Jack's just down to road for minor things.

Hope that helps..

I live in Bowling Green and we have a fair LFS called Fishy Business and I frequent one in Owensboro called Creative Aquatics.
