THat one went for $750! I heard the 2000 rumor too, but I think that was a fluke. Still $750-800 is a HUGE profit!

It's not a fluke, we saw them on ebay ourselves for $1900.00!

not a fluke the first one went for 5000, then most for 2000. I did a 3 day instead of a 24 hour and my reserve wasn't met. I really need the rent money, my wife spent it.

From what I understand these first gen xbox 360's are having tons of problems. Of course microsoft will fix them but you will be without it for a while should yours be one of the unlucky ones. I also find it interesting that microsoft took what I heard was a $150 dollar hit on every xbox sold but that they expect to profit enormously by selling the games and accessories. Marketing/Economic genius.

Loss-leaders is a common promotional pricing strategy for manufacturers/retailers. The goal is to offer below cost prices on some goods in hope that other goods will be bought which generate profits. Your large general retailers such as Wal-Mart and Target are constantly doing this.

In this case, the marketing strategy is brilliant; take the loss on the console knowing that people are going to purchase games and accessories which have better margins. What good is the console without the accessories?
