SLASH Fragswap - January 27th. 12:00PM
SLASH will be hosting their first ever frag swap on January 27th at 12:00 noon.

We have the room reserved from 12:00 til 3:00 but I was told that we don't actually have to be out of there until 5:00PM ( in case some of you decide to have a few ). There is no age limit so even Trottman can attend if he wishes. We will have a server available while the event is going on and you might want to have some lunch while you're there. I think they serve some of the best hot wings in the city.

Some of our friends from the newly formed Bloomington Normal Area Reef Club have been invited and are planning to attend. I have been told by the club president that he intends to bring some SPS along to trade/sell and that others from the club also have items that they will be bringing.

We wish to invite anyone who wishes to attend and there is no admission fee whether you are a club member or not.

There wil also be raffles for gift certificates from select sponsors.

Start fragging and saving those dollars.

me and my girlfriend have just gotten into the hobby about 6 months ago ..we live locally in st louis county and have been really looking to check out some of the marine aquarium clubs around town.....as we dont know anyone who has a tank set up..we really want to meet some people who have the same intrest as us ......

i see slash we be putting on this event ...does the slash club have a homepage? how do u become a member?

is there alot of slash members that post on this site?
this is my first post here on reefland but we post regulary on another reefkeeping forum...

we dont have anything to trade as our tank is still pretty new but we would love to come and meet people....will there be frags for sale?

There will be a ton of frags for sale! There will also be members from the Bloomington/Normal reef club there also! I unfortunately, will be at a swap in Madison,Wis. That weekend. I have donated some frags that I believe will be raffled. I will pass this info on to the club president Greg(capncapo).
I think you will find that these are a great group of guys.

BTW, they have a trip planned to Inland Aquatics in Indiana on the 13th! If you have never been to Inland Then you should go! The place is crazy! Tons of huge fiberglass vats filtered by algal turf scrubbers and surge buckets! Some of the biggest corals you will ever see in captivity! WOW!

i kinda thought that mattingly,s inn was like a hotel but i found out its a sports bar....how are you guys going to put togther a fragswap in a bar....

were really intrested in coming but were just wondering how slash will organize this .....will there be tanks to put corals in? lets say i buy frags but then stay to have lunch and a brew what would i do with my frags??

does mattingly,s have a room off to the side that this will be hosted in?

Mattinglys is a family restaurant and bar. They have a room attached that is for private parties and that is where the swap will be held.

People bring their frags in plastic bags so if you want to have some lunch or even some liquid lunch it should be no problem. Your corals should be able to survive for much longer than that in a bag.

You can join SLASH but coming to the fragswap and filling out a membership form and paying the yearly membership fee of $20.00 for a single or $30.00 for a family membership. You can also join by sending $21.00 for a single or $31.50 for a family membership to slashclub@yahoo.com. The extra cost is for the Paypal fee.

do u guys not post on there alot? i didnt see very many threads....

we will be there on the 27th for the frag swap thats for sure...i dont have anything to bring but we would like to meet some people who live locally who have the same intrest as us ....plus you never know im sure ill walk away with some frags.....

what does a membership into slash provide for me?? are there any perks that come with the membership?

how big is slash (how many members)?? when was slash est.??

is their any other boards that slash members post on regulary???.....

We are upgrading both our website and forums. The forum you see is our old one that will be used until the new one comes online.

One of the benfits of membership is discounts at local vendors. Another is lots of club activities that involve road trips, social gatherings. There are many benefits...least being associating with a great group of friendly people.

SLASH was formed in March of last year and we currently have 70 members.
