I have a 55 gal glass tank (was used for fresh water, has some equip). Willing to sell or trade (setting up a 55 gal saltwater that I pick up with some equip and stand) need equip for it, ie. skimmer, sump, pump, consider anything you may have. Don't really want to ship tank. Any question feel free to ask. Also, I would like a little help on what I need (newbie) for my new 55 gal tank, so I can make sure I have everything.

i just tore down my 55gal reef on monday.
things you will need are powerheads: i had 1 hagen 802 and 2 402's heater. 200w i think is what i had (visitherm) ebojager would be good brand, test kits, ro unit, lights...i had 2 110w vho's and 2 40w NO. i would use vho's or Metal halides. 4" sand bed, 80+ lbs of live rock. optional stuff: skimmer, sump, hang on refugium email me if you have any ?'s i would be more than happy to help later Lunchbucket |

Poly- how about a nice canopy for that new tank? I need to get up that way anyhow, let me know if you'd be interested in a trade. I build custom canopies for any type lighting, any size tank. Stands too (plug, plug).......

just use a glass tank for a sump man. easier and faster than making it yourself.
i used a super reef devil skimmer on my tank w/ a mag 7 and it worked great. you wouldn't even need a skimmer if you didn't want to spend the $$. just make part of your sump a refugium and do regular water changes. later Lunchbucket |

Polyspots- I would trade you a 55 stand for a 55 tank if you are interested. Let me know. How far is Visalia from Bakersfield? Would meet you half way. - David.

Uhhhhh, hmmmmm, errrr.... I would only build it if you wanted it, 55's are not that popular among reefers, if I build "on speculation" it's usually 60's or 80's, both very popular tanks. It's made of 3/4 hardwood plywood with oak veneer. Typically use red oak stain. The design is pretty simple, solid panel ends with front and back looking like "picture frame". Framework top and bottom. I don't usually do cabinet doors because the labor and hardware puts it beyond what most people want to pay, but they can be added. A curtain works great to hide sump if you care. They are very strong and stable, and they look really nice too
. I'm going to build a sixty soon and I'll send you picture of that. |

let me know if you get a picture soon. I plan on building my own soon. I want to make a nice looking stand (or get one). Right now I have my extra tank sitting around, so I want to get rid of it soon. Visalia is less than an hour away from Bakersfield.
