450 starphire tank.never used
anyone in the chicago land area thinking about ordering a tank from mitch at IA...you may want to contact me. the tank i have which is off a little in size and is to be built in is possibly going to be replaced by mitch and then the one i have witch has not been used but is here in chicago can be sold at a reasonable price..better than what mitch possibly sells them for
tank is 9 feet long and 32 inches high and 34 inches deep..over flows are the right and left side of the tank from front to back.....it is a killer tank,....bracing and splash gaurds are all starfire as is the front of the tank.. all edges are ground and plished...back is a dark sea blue as are the sides of the tank. let me know. |

Reefs Rock,
I-A is Inter-American Pet Supply in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. They are a relatively small builder of custom size aquariums. About the only thing you will get from their website is their address and phone number: http://go.to/interamerican Their website is "under construction" and the owner of I-A does not have an e-mail address or a personal computer. You have to call him if you are interested... his name is Mitch. Ninong |

probably looking at about 3,500 for the tank. it is new and is picture perfect..
all edges are ground and polished, bracing on top is starphire as well as the front of course. the perimeter splash gaurds around the tank are also starphire. i,m not looking to make money on this deal.. i am still working out the details ffor getting a new one ordered and shipped from mitch at IA need one a coulple inches higher than what he shipped. that is the reason for selling the tank. it has been twested and is water tight..no leaks the back is a dark blue as are the sides..the overflows have an in tank refugium section and also a section can allow for closed loop circulation . one on each side. let me know |

Chicago, pardon my ignorance, if any, BUT, $3500 is steep. I-A advertises in FAMA tanks of around that size for about $1800. Where'd the other $1800 come from? How much was shipping? Is a stand included in that price? I don't mean to be an a**, but it seems a bit high for a tank someone is eating the original cost of. Let us know. I'm sure folks would still like to see some pics of it as well. Thanks, just tryin' to see straight on this, Bill.

I believe IA's prices in FAMA are for glass aquariums. Chicago's is a Starphire glass with custom features all of which costs more $$$. Chicago I am curious what was the shipping on that beast, errr, beauty? Thanks

like i said before this is a custom made tank ... and i am not looking to make any cash on this deal..
the tank was 3200.00 remebmer this tank is custom made with all starphire glass including the bracing on top. mitched called this puppy the big blue meaniee. the shipping cost was approx 600 to get it to chicago. this did not include the cost of moving it from consolidated freight ways in to the house.. if you call oceanic and ask them to build you one to these specs it will be a lot more and will not even bee made out of starphire. the front glass on a tank this size requires 3/4 inch glass if not 1 inch. so if you go with glass and not starphire the tank will have a definite green tint to it. thus the reasone for the starphire. also remeber this tank was made to my specifications. the overflows are on each side and run from the back to the front of the tank..by building it into the wall the overflows can not be seen. the tank is nine feet long and 32 inches high. front to back is 34 inches. the back is made out of three peices of glass as is custom with IA for a tank this size...it is glass, mirror and a peice of blue glass which gives the tank a tottallly cool blue ocean look to it. the sides are dark blue also. i paid extrta to have all the edges ground and pollished because of pics of tanks that the owners of prior tanks had complaints about. the price is not definitlly 3,500 and this did not include a stand. it might be less i am working out the details but it will be in that area. i've been a hobbyist for over 20 years and i wouldn't feel right about making money by selling a tank. check out other quotes..in fact when i was reashearching this,,,check prior bb therads here, the price from some companies in califonia.. glasss or aother wise would knock your socks off let me know of quotes you got .. i would be interested toi know if the price of these tanks has come down in the u.s. Please don't take any offense, I said I could be wrong. I was recalling the ads I've seen in FAMA, remembering I-A selling starphire tanks. I pulled out the mag and ad and see now that those prices don't specify starphire, only that it is available. My apologies. I'd still like to see a pic of this monster. I'm in the market for a centerpiece of my yet to be constructed greenhouse/fish room. It would be nice to get a visual of the end boxes and the way the back is constructed as well as the color. Thanks, Bill.
