Cool Strange new growth on live rock???

    Hey gang,
I've got a new growth sprouting on my rock.Sorry haven't got a pic, haven't mastered posting pics. The growth is vibrant yellowish green, looks kinda fiberous.Got 1 that's about the size of a dime and several small ones,a little smaller than a pencil eraser.I've looked on the net till I'm blue in the face for pics but none yet.Any ideas or maybe a web site or book that might help????

    Mr fix it

Sounds like the same thing I now have all over my tank. If it is, it's just a small type of sponge, no harm to anything. It came into my tank about a year ago on a rock with some small zoe's. I am assuming that it just broke off in small peices and that's how it has spread around the tank. It only seems to grow on the rocks but grows real well in lower light areas, ie in the back of the rocks or on the underside. It will atach and grow between rocks, helping to hold the reef structure together. Hasn't seemed to affect anything and adds a little color here and there. It even survived my recent move of the tank to a new house. I did scrub some of the rock before setting up the tank again to try and get rid of the alge that was growing on the rocks. didn't seem to bother the sponges at all. Hope that helps some. Wish I had a picture of it to send you, but I don't right now.

you might look at www.wetwebmedia.com If you can find it there , Fenner usually includes some conversation about it with tips for care.
In this hobby patience is not a virtue,,,,,its mandatory.
