picaso triger compatibility
Hey there i just joined this forum (i just found it) and it looks great.Just a quick question i have a salt tank set up with 1 blue devil damsel,1 clarki clown,1 flame hawkfish, and 1 watchman goby.I realy want to add a picaso(huma huma) triger fish to the tank im wondering if he will get along with my other inhabitants????The whole reason i started a saltwater tank was cause i saw a picaso triger and i always wanted to have one!any advice would be great thanks!

Hi s dubay, Welcome to Reefland!
Triggerfish can sometimes be aggressive towards other fish however you have started out right by adding these smaller fish first and giving them an opportunity to "make their home". If you tank is pretty established and you have a good size tank, I say go for it! Could you tell us a bit more about your tank? ![]() Regards, Scott Z. |

well my tank is only a 40 gallon and it has been running for about 3 months now!I know that is to small for a trigger but in the next year i will probly upgrade to a 6 foot long 80 gallon!I have an 80 gallon freshwater right now and its great i have it full of loaches and cichlids!I am going to try to buy the exact same one for a saltwater but for now i want to get the trigger ,i know i should wait but they look so cool and i heard they really like there owners too. This guy sounds like a great fish!I just hope that he gets along well with my other fish, they are all fairly peacfull and get along great,i had to sell my 3 stripe damsel cause he was too agressive,so i hope the trigger will fit in well!thanks for the advice.

A year may be to far down the road for this fish as will probably out grow you 40 before your ready to upgrade to a larger tank plus adding to what you all ready have would be getting crouded especially as he starts to grow. If your going to get one anyways which I am guessing your are get the smallest you can. Try to get one under 2" long so it has some to grow in the 40.
I would definetly look into getting at least some live roc. It will make the tank much healthier. You have to consider a protien skimmer or a be good on doing waterchanges. Be for warned on picaso triggers. They like to take mouthfulls of sand and spit it out all over the place thus making a mess of you rock work covering everything in sand. |

I remember the first time I saw a Porcupine Puffer, it was taking mouth fulls of water and spitting it up in the air out of the tank like a water fall; it was really cool.Anyhow, I completely agree with Tendar; he's given some good advice there. ![]() |
