Stars And Stripes Puffer
I have 6 in stars and strips puffer in my 125 gallon tank. The tank also has a small amount of algea starting to form on the glass. I went a bought some snails to put in the tank to see if they would clean up the problem. ( I read some info on what the puffer eats and also got advice from the fish store that had it.) Little did i know that as soon as the snails stuck to the glass that the puffer would charge them at full speed, knock them off the glass and proceed to peck at them til it ripped them out the shell and ate them.
So my real question is, anyone have any suggestions about animals or ways to clean up the algea problem. Preferbly ones that my puffer won't attack and eat. Thanks, Tony |

Hi Tony!
Before suggesting a potential fix to the problem, what kind of algae are you seeing on your glass; hair algae, cyano??? The type of algae will determine the animal that may possibly eat it. Regards, Scott Z. |

Thats what i was thinking about, but i was just looking for other peoples experience. I like the look of snails and hermit crabs in my tanks. So i was just kinda hoping that someone might know of a way i could have both the puffer and the inverts. I think your right in terms of cost effectiveness the algea scrubber will prolly be the best bet for the future, especially if the puffer gets really hungry one day.
