Thumbs up Thanks Guys!!!!!

Hey ya'll Thanks to all who posted to my earlier thread about needed some advise for my new 10 gallon tank, I have since found a better aquarium store, and everyone there is soooo helpful. Like you all advised I got my water tested, and the first time it wasnt quite ready so they gave me some non-cured rock to get the ball rolling. Lastnight I had my water tested again, and it was good to go, so I returned my bastard of a damsel <eww I didnt like him @ all>. And so in return I came home with 2 clowns, they are so pretty, and I can already tell they have great personalities. The man @ the store, told me that my next step should be better lighting, then I can add some coral, and maybe some mushroom rocks, or something like that.

Thanks for all your help!
Mela

Mela,

You should be in good shape! Everyone buys damsels starting out and lots of people decide they don't like them after the fact (I did pretty much the same thing).

You shouldn't need anything really fancy in the way of lighting for a 10-gal -- they are pretty small.

What kind of corals are you considering? Mushrooms are really easy and low maintenance -- you should be fine with them probably with even your current lighting!

Good luck and update all of us on your progress!

That's good news!

For lighting, you ight look into a small Power Compact lighting kit to fit over your 10 gallon aquarium. These would be great for keeping Mushrooms, small leather corals, colorful zooanthids and more!

IL Soultions, a sponsor of Reefland has an inexpensive little nan-light fixture that may be great for your set-up:

Obviously a little light set like this wouldn't be good for SPS corals, clams or anemones but great for the softies listed above.

Scott Z.

Metal Halide is recommended but even with them a 10 gallon aqaurium is much too small for one. They get pretty big and like to move, 2 things you don't want in a nano-reef.
