Yellow Tang

I just got a Yellow Tang about 5 days ago and am very curious what he is doing and if it is bad. Every once in a while he will speed up and rub himself against the live rock. Is this normal or is this some type of disease. I am pretty sure this is normal but just checking.

How is he looking and eating? This COULD be an indicator of parasites. I would watch him and start feeding vitamin enriched food . This would just be a precaution , because he is a new fish , so you dont know what his normal temperment is. Look at him very closely for white specs ( Ich) and examine him everyday for a while . You are probably doing that know anyways . If you dont see anything after a while , then you could figure that its just his way.

Most time this type of scratching is an indication of a parasite. Do as mentioned above, keep an eye on him. Also with Yellow tangs they seem to also get "black Ich" tiny little specs of black all over them. This can also cause the scratching.

But on a whole this is not "normal".

Should I think about getting a shrimp????He is eating the seaweed I feed him.He eats that really fast. But when I feed all myfish the formula 2 I don't think he ever gets any. He also has plenty of algae to feed on. Any other suggestions on any well enriched vitamin foods.

Thanks, Zach
