Hi everyone... My PH has always been at 8.1 - I have a few fish, one hard coral and 4 soft corals... Is this too low? Also, I've had the tank running for about 2 months and I was thinking about doing a water change but won't my Ph get even LOWER if I do that and isn't that dangerous? I read that you SHOULD do a water change to increase PH but that doesn't make sense to me... I'd think that taking away water from the tank, replacing it with RO water would DECREASE the PH, no? Help! I'm confused!
Sidenote: My tomato clown won't leave the surface of the water unless he's eating like a pig... cause for concern??? |

I try to maintain about 8.3 but 8.1 will work . In theory the water you used to fill your tank and the water you use to do water changes with should have the same pH level so you wont change anything. You can always bring your pH level up in your water , if you are not satisfied with it . You can do a search and find threads about this. If you decide to bring up the levels do it slowly. Water changes also add back other trace elements needed (supplied by the saltmix)
