What are your current water conditions, nitrite, nitrate, pH, ammonia, etc. What caused him to become sick, (ie, you added another fish, it hasn't been well since you put it in the tank?)

Have you diagnosed the current condition? Have you dosed the tank with anything such as copper?

How big is your tank and what do you have in it.

thank you for your response...I had put baktopur in for 2 days and the biological went out of wack, so I did a water change and the filter was not running for 12 hours. BUt the fish was sick prior to this...I did not add any fish....The water had its problems but seems to be OK now. I have a 300 gallon with six semi aggressive and 3 eels. Nobody seems to be picking on anybody, I did not add copper. Does copper wipe out the bio too? I have been hesitant to treat again in fear of that...I have been adding a little garlic...My UV is also down. THis problem has been ever since a water change from my old service guy. My porcupine puffer and snowflake eel stopped eating too. Not sure why...

How often do you perform water changes? Also, angels can be hard to keep because they are very picky about when they eat and what they eat sometimes. I had a queen angel that would go on hunger strikes. They also have a tendency to be shy when it is eating time. My emperor will let other fish grab the food before it gets to it.

I have water changes every month. This problem started when I had a water change 3 1/2 months ago. THe guy that did the water change had a problem with other customers as well. THe porcupine puffer died yesterday and the angel is gasping for air. This particular grey angel (french) was an agressive eater. One of my best. Seemed like a hardy fish through any other problem. Unfortunately, I think it caught something from that water change. My guess is parasitic. My UV is also not operating. I tried to treat the tank with Baktopur a while ago and after two treatments my bio went haywire....I think I am switching to fresh in the future. Still have 3 eels and 5 fish though. Rather large ones too

The water change should not of caused any parasite problem. You should start doing water changes every week. These fish are living in their own waste. Need to get your uv fixed.
