I wouldnt recomend a 30 gallon tank for a yellow tang or any tang these fish need a lot of room to be a viable option .They require a lot of rockwork to be really happy the constantly graze all day and they need a plenty of room to move around and plenty of places to hide at night so ime certain it would be a expensive mistake if you went with a tang.Perhaps you could maybe get a clownfish for a tank that size but 30 gallon isnt really big enough to support many fish .

30 gallons is too small for a tang. I would place smaller species of fish in your tank.
