my problem need help//////

redoing my 5 gal nano tank. use copper medication. shouldn't done tat my clown fish died. wish all my equipment with water and hopefully there will be no trace of copper. how would i find out if there any trace of copper? i already put 7 lb of live rock and sand and running the filter and powerhead. i'm afriad that there might be copper in my tank. what should i do? how would i test it? what can i do to remove it? i need help? please if u read this respond even if u don't know what i can do but just give me advace. this web site help me so much and was sadden that my fish die and all my hardwork with taking care of this tank went down the drain. thank you

Typically, copper will not kill fish, that is why it is offered as a medication for sick fish. I would say unless it was over dosed, the copper was not the cause of the fish death.

However to test for copper, you'll have to purchase a copper test kit and use it to tell what you have left, if anything, in the tank.

Sometimes a good "poly filter" will help remove Copper medications from the water. Also run LARGE quantities of carbon. And I think SeaChem makes a Copper absorbent material. Those are some good places to start, but remember it is VERY difficult to completely remove, and as a medication it is VERY Powerful!!! So a LIttle goes a LONG LONG way!!
