my new (one week) small blue tang has ich. some good sized white spots on his body (about six). did a lot of reading and decided to give him a freshwater dip last night (5 min). the spots started to fall off. two spots still remain. i have a small 8 gallon tank in my office that i just started up again about three months ago (only had a damsel in it, took it back to the LFS). i brought the 8 gallon home with me and thinking about using it for a Q tank. i have read some mixed reviews on Q tanks. my orig. fish are fine. however, month old coral beauty has one white spot on top fin. should i dip him too? thinking about doing hypo treatment in the Q tank w/ some garlic guard in the food. should i put the coral beauty in the Q tank also? trying to stay away from adding meds. had a bad exp in the past. will be sad if the new fish doesn't make it but will be really bumed if my orig. fish get ich. thanks in advance for your help.

I think you have the right plan with using that 8g tank as the q-tank.It should work just fine and hyposalinity is a very good way to kill off the parasites and break their life cycle. Sorry no one responded sooner to your post and I just missed it as well,I hope all is well with your fish. It's been quite a few threads lately on the Ich problem in this forum...
