Question protein skimmer

hey!

I was looking on ebay and i found an affordable protein skimmer for around 60$, and i now only have a 10 gallon tank, but im planning on buying either a 20 or a 30 sometime in the future whenever i get enough $$$, the name of the skimmer was- TURBO protein skimmer marine reef aquarium, and i was just looking for some advice on wether or not i should order this, or keep looking for another one, thanks!

Maybe it's just me, but the 2 MOST important pieces to a Successful reeftank are LIGHTS and SKIMMER!!! I guess any skimmer is better then NO skimmer, but I had to scrimp and save scrimp and save till I was able to find one that was capable of doing what I needed for the right money. I had a budget of $200.00 to work with, and Jeremy at Premium Aquatics hooked me up with the Nautilis by Kent, and it REALLY REALLY works. I tried the elcheapo skimmers and I even tried a DIY skimmer, (failed miserably) and now my water is clear, and the skimmer STINKS, instead of my water being YELLOW and SMELLY!!!

Take the big step, and get a really good skimmer, Euro Reef, My Reef, ASM, or the one I have, I promise you will be happy, plus you end up buying a good piece once, instead of a cheap piece 3 times!!!

make sure the skimmer is either a hang on or an in sump. i think in your case your gonna want a hang on tank skimmer, unless you plan on using a sump. get the best skimmer you can afford. i have a SeaClone, not the best skimmer out there, but it skims out all the nasty nasty. the collection cup fills up with black thick muck.

Question sponge filter

hey!

i just have one question, would anyone recommend this sponge filter? or in other words is it worth buying?
(for up to 20 Gallon) this would go on my 10 gallon.

it has:
  1. Air Inlet Tube
  2. Manifold Adaptor Cap
  3. Water/Air Outlet Manifold
  4. Air Effusion Chamber
  5. Bio-Ceramic-Pearls
  6. Sponge Filter
  7. Bottom of Fixture

Nope. The only thing you need is live rock and a good skimmer for filtration, along with the routine water change. Don't even look at anything else, it is not needed.
