H.O.T. Refugium questions?

I've been thinking of getting a small hang on the tank refugium from ebay. its the CPR style, about 12". I'm thinking it'll be good to take the place of my penguin 330 thats just being used for water circulation. If any one thinks this is a good plan, let me know. I think it'll be good to break down nitrates, and even grow some macroalgae. i know its kind of small, but i think it'll give me some more experience in the subject. Also, what type of light would be needed if any, especially for the macro. It's not for sure yet, just looking into it, tryin to get some more knowledge ya know. I have a FOWLR, so i dont know if it would be worth it. thanks

The refugium for growing macro would be good . It will provide you , not so much with nitrate break down , but instead export. When you prune your macro , you will be removing from the system everything the macro has absorbed. If its just for macro you could plant directly in the tank instead , unless you have inhabitants that will eat it faster than it grows.

so i've thought it through, and i have decided to go with the hang on refugium. I think it will give me some more experience with, which cant hurt. its gonna cost about $30 for the refugium, plus the pump. it is a CPR style hang on, and its gonna take the place of my penguin 330. also i've been thinking of adding a second skimmer, i guess 2 would be better than one right? been looking for a used aqua c remora pro in town, no luck yet, probly never since they work great. any comments and suggestions would be helpful. thanks
