Those are cool fish. I have a Naso Tang myself, they look similar.
I wanted a Gold Rim. But once I saw him I had to have him. Pkus I was having trouble finding a Gold Rim. This fish has so much personality
He's very nice looking but I think you're rushing things considering that you just started this 55-gal tank three weeks ago.
Good luck,

Then you must have two tanks: Newbie basic setup questionOriginally Posted by Ballgame

Yikes that tank is pretty darn new. I hope it all works out for you, remember PATIENCE is one of the biggest parts of being successful in this hobby.Originally Posted by Ninong

Keep a close eye on him...he's a beautiful fish, actually one of my favorites as far as tangs go.
Mike hit it on the nose with PATIENCE coment and I don't have anything to add.
Kind regards,
Gene.

Ninong...MEEEOW!!! Just outta curiosity, what purpose does it serve to point out EXACTLY how long he's had his tank up and running? I mean, I think we all got the point that he MAY be a tad bit rushing things but you made your point, I think you can let it go. I speak from experience that sometimes you have to learn by your mistakes in this hobby. Sheesh.
There is a huge difference between three weeks and five weeks when it comes to adding the first fish to a tank. Most new hobbyists would want to know that.Originally Posted by melliepooh

No, you DON'T have to learn from your mistakes. That's what boards such as this are for. You can ask for help BEFORE you make a mistake.I speak from experience that sometimes you have to learn by your mistakes in this hobby. Sheesh.
BTW, do a search on the board on "Emerald Crabs" and "Camel Shrimp." You will probably be surprised to learn that you are in for a few more learning experiences of your own.
Good luck and happy reefing,

Now, what exactly does that mean? At who's expense? I don't understand your post at allOriginally Posted by melliepooh
A TAD rushing can mean a certain demise for the fish and it could be avoided with a TAD of research. What Ninong said is that it is too soon for adding a sensitive and prone to Ich outbreaks fish, in return he got a remark that it is 5 weeks instead of 3 weeks which doesn't make a tiny bit of difference. Plus, it was an advice on the part of Ninong and I don't see why you getting so upset?
And...he did say that fish looks very nice as well
Edit: Sorry for butting in,George, I see you already covered everything so you can delete my post if you wish![]()

All of my replies to you were accompanied by happy faces and your response was accompanied by a cool smiley; so it would appear that you understand that my comments, though critical, were good natured.Originally Posted by Ballgame

cool, thanks again!Originally Posted by Ninong
Nice fish! You may have problems with him picking on new fish that you introduce as they can become very territorial. This is not always the case however as many of the Acathurus sp. have a very wide range of personalities as individuals. Take the time to get it to eat from your fingers. They are quite itelligent and learn quickly. They are very fond of brown and red algae which is very good for their health.
