Cured vs Uncured Live Rock
Do I have to get uncured live rock to get all the cool little creatures and stuff growing in it?
I got some cured live rock from my LFS and you can see pics here: http://home.csumb.edu/p/petersonwyat...s/Mahatma.html I have only had it about 3 days now and I don’t see much… |

I don't see much either. That looks for like "base rock" to me. Even at tropicorium this week they had a very POOR selection of live rock, the only good stuff they had was $8.99 a POUND, and at that price I could only swing about 5 pounds of rock. But it was covered in PURPLE coralline algae, and had some small sponges on it too. The rock you have looks pretty bare, no real color. Maybe if you keep your Alk and Ca levels up eventually it will color up for you.

Is there any additives I should use? What should the Alk and Ca levels be?

I use pickling Lime. It is Calcium Hydroxide. Ca 425-450 ppm Dkh 9-12.
