is this common?
hey everyone, i have a quick question. my LR is starting to bud little chunks of red/purple/pink coraline algae, but i also noticed that some teal/turquoise/mint green algae is also forming. its not like green/hairy algae, more like an encrusting calcareous algae. when i bought the rock, i had noticed a few pieces had some like this, now it looks as if its starting to spread. it isnt taking over the rock, but everyday i notice a little more. is this common for premium fiji? it seems to me that its a good sign, just thought i'd ask to see if anyone else this color stuff. thanks.

yeah, my tank is running without fish right now. i just picked up my new maxi jet for the second bak-pak, i'll throw it on tonight. my boss just called and asked if i could come in cause someone else called in sick,
. but i could use the money. i got some snails and a few peppermint shrimp in there right now, but thats it. it'll probly be fish-less till may. as for the teal algae, it think its great, gives off some nice color. thanks for the reply.leddy i'll post a pic of the second bak-pak on there tonight, after i take the penguin 330 off. i took off the HOT Magnum, and now there are alot less bubbles, which i like. |

the second skimmer is working good, started pulling junk out the other day. just got the 2 skimmers, 3 PH's, and my heater inside one of the bak-paks right now. a few microbubbles coming from them, but nothing bad and unsightly. i picked up a Conch, forgot the name of it, but its goin to town on my sand bed. i should be picking up some more rock next week, about 20lbs. no fish till mid. May, which works since i'm goin on a 5 day vacation early in the month. anyway, i'm gonna call the store where i got the Conch from tom. to see what its called. its not that big right now, about an inch. but hopefully it'll stir up my sand bed a little, free it from detritus and algae.
