hello all - I currently have a FO 90 Gallon tank cycling and just wanted get your input on how much flow I should have regarding GPH. Any ideas? Or maybe you have a formula you all use to estimate? Thanks all,
Mike

As a " general rule of thumb" a tank requires 10X its size per hour in circulation , therefore your 90 would require 900 gallons per hour in movement. Then you have to take your particular circumstances into consideration. Some things may not like that much movement , still others will require more. In a F.O. tank my best suggestion would be to make sure you have no large dead spots and you have sufficent surface agitation , for oxygen/gas exchange. If you have LR try to make sure you have flow on both sides (front and back) of it . I would be more concerned about these things and less concerned about total flow. Hope this helps.
In this hobby patience is not a virtue,,,,,its mandatory.
Thanks for your feedback. It is a FO tank with no LR right now. I might add some later though. This definitely helps me determine if I have enough flow in the tank. Thanks again,
Mike
