base rock question
Can anyone recommend where I might be able to purchase some base rock for my 90G? I would like to have base/live for a 50/50 mix eventually. Thanks,

Check out Premium Aquatics. I was just randomly searching sites one day and I saw this. It seems like not a bad deal if you want base rock. Other than that, i dont know, i'm not too familiar with buying rock onlne.
check it out: I think its called "Reef Bones" 55$ for 40lbs http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merch..._Code=Liverock Leddy |

Thanks for the information Leddy. I used a site called hirocks.com since there were some people that have used them before and were satisfied. I ordered 30lbs. to start with just in case. If I like it, I might order more, or maybe use liverock with the base rock.

thats good. I use a 50/50 mix of base and live rock. 50lbs of base rock, and 50lbs of premium fiji. the base rock was in a curing tub along with the fiji when i bought it, so all the rock was covered with little tube worms/feather dusters. after a while, the base rock should be taken over by coraline algae, and then you wont even know you have base rock, it'll blend right in with the LR.

Hey Leddy - I just got my 30lbs. of rock from hirocks.com and I must say I am very impressed with it. It came in 1 large center piece, 2 medium sizes, and several small pieces. Very porous. I will send pics later when I take some pictures of it tonight.

Here are some pics of my 90G in the beginning stages leddy. Obviously 30lbs. isn't enough for it, but I wanted to show you what the rock looks like in the tank. Another 60lbs. would be perfect!
