    Question 12 gallon Nano Cube

I have trouble lately, everytime I put Mexican turbo's in my tank after acclimating them for almost 2 hours they still are dying. Anybody have any idea why that would be happening?

Also where can I find the following: Nassarious Vibrex, Cerith, Astrea, Nerite and a Strombus Alatus? Also would like to have some grape caulerpa.

I have hair algae growing and need these to get rid of it.

Tank is 2 months old and everything checks out fine in it. Make regular water changes every other week also. Have a green chromis and a yellowhead jawfish goby.

Hello wdb1009. Can you send us the stats on your tank results from your tests? PH, Nitrate, Nitrite, Ammonia? Something is wrong with the water chemistry IMO. You might also want to perform a test for copper. I wouldn't put anything else in the tank until these tests show to be safe.

Also, what kind of water do you use? Tap or RO, RO/DI?

    Thanks,

    Mike

I dont know how much you know about turbos in general but just to be on the safe side, if turbos flip over they'll die if they arent turned back over. They are big pains in the butt imo, i have a bunch but they drive me nuts because as soon as i get my arms out of the tank and dried off, I see a turbo on his back. Another thing Im wondering is what other inverts you have in there. If you have hermits that also may be a reason for their demise. I had a slew of hermits and my hermits would pull the snails off the glass if they were bigger and then kill them because of what i call, shell envy. Hair algae could be caused by a number of things. Water quality is definitely one of the reasons. Another could be your lighting. I had a piece of live rock in my reef tank and moved it to a fish only tank which had a lighting change from power compacts to a normal output lighting system and eventually hair algae started to pop up. And I dont know how much you know about caulerpa but in my past experience it was a big pain for me. The problem I had w/ it was it grew so well. I think its great for a sump but ill never put it in my main tank again. Lots of people do it but I wont because once its in....its in. Some fish eat that algae but none small enough for a 12g. Good luck
    Jon
