Quarantine Tank
Hello all - I am going to setup a 10G quarantine tank this weekend, but I want to make sure I have everything that I need. If I am missing something, please let me know. Thanks
10G glass tank w/hood & light Filtration System (BIO Wheel, Powerhead?) Heater crushed coral or live sand? I'm just trying to get an idea of what I should use. Any feedback would be great. Thanks Mike |

Quarantine Tank....
My quarantine tank has a bare bottom with a couple of 4" PVC pipes for fish to hide in. I've heard from others that the sand and gravel are not neccessary for a Quarantine tank.
Depending on how often you use your quarantine tank usually all the bacteria will die off in the tank between usage. So live sand is probally just a waste of money. Some people keep a foam block in their reef tank sump that grows the needed bacteria and add the foam block to the Quarantine tank when they add a specimen they need to quarantine. |

Thanks Meric. I will just leave the bottom without any substrate, and put some decoration in there for hiding places. Thanks for the advice!
