Future fish suggestions.
I'm starting to plan for future fish, hopefully first additions end of may. Heres what I'm thinking.
3 to 5- Green Chromis (@May 25th) 1- Royal Gramma (@June 25th) maybe 1- Scooter dragonet (gotta get the fuge stuffed with food first) I think thats all I'm gonna do, I don't want too many in there.....Any suggestions? Was thinking maybe a pair of clowns, but not sure yet. I like the idea to have a school of chromis, and the gramma for the color. The personalities of the dragonets is great, I just don't know if I'll be able to supply enough food for it. Definitly no super aggressive fish, triggers and damsels are in the past at the moment for me. ![]() I want a peaceful tank with some fish, inverts, and corals in the future. Hopefully it'll be more rewarding in the long run.Leddy |

I just added a couple green chromis (chromi?) to my 180 and now I can't wait to add a few more. What wonderful little fish! I'm also looking into blue chromis, Chromis cyanea. (Need to do some more reading first). Since it looks like we have similar tastes in fish, here's my short list:
Purple Firefish, Nemateleotris decora or Firefish, Nemateleotris magnifica Sixline wrasse, Pseudocheillinus hexataenia (ended up getting an eightline wrasse P. octoaenia). Yellow Assessor, Assessor flavissimus (can be hard to find/expensive...but has some interesting and unique habits in the tank) Lyretail Anthias, Pseudanthias squamipinnis. (Need to read up on this guy too). Quote:

The six-line wrasse was another I've been looking at. I've had one before, but with no inverts, I'm wondering if it'll pick at my snails like the old lunare wrasse I had. Have you had any trouble with them? I read that they're fine with inverts, I'll look into them a bit more. I don't think I'm ready for Anthias, but I've seen pictures of the yellow assessor, they're cool. Don't know too much about them but if they're expensive and rare, I'll skip that one. Thanks for the reply.

Well, I'm getting anxious to have some fish in the tank. I might go to the store and get 3 green chromis (maybe 5
). Its been about 8 weeks (3/9/04) since I did the big switch with the crushed coral/sand mix to just sand. Also, having the tank fishless for 8 weeks, to hopefully kill the Ich lifecycle. The tank looks great, theres tons of life all over the rocks, I see new things every day. Also, the refugium is getting some life in it. But, I'd like to have a school of chromis, I think its time. I'm anxious for you....I'm sitting here looking at all my fish swimming around a hospital tank while my display dank goes fallow for 5 weeks...for the same reson as you. Several chromis are definately on my list. In the mean time, I am stocking the display tank with inverts. We've been patiently waiting to decide what direction we wanted the tank to go, and now it looks like anenome-centric is the plan. Especially after finding a large (5") rose BTA for $35 at a LFS. (To be honest, the folks who were running the store that day didn't have a clue. I asked the girl the price of "that one there" pointing to the tank. She got out a notebook, looked for several minutes with a puzzled face, and said $35....to which I replied, "Bag it up!"). Let that be a lesson to LFS managers who hire unknowledgeable people...they really do cost you money.

I went to the store today after work, picked up a royal gramma. The price was good too, $9.99. Thats how much I payed for my royal dottyback. I've seen grammas for like 22 some places. They didn't have any green chromis (chromi
? ), but I had him save me 5 the next time he gets a shipment, probably in 2 weeks or so. So far the gramma's doing good, I got the lights off with just some ambient light in the room to let him acclimate. I drip acclimated him for about 1.5 hours. I'm happy I have a fish in there Leddy |

I knew it was a matter of time befor the number of RBTAs hit a critical level where there are enough people keeping/reproducing them for the price to come down....but the going rate here in Hampton Roads, Virginina is still in the 100 dollar range. The price she quoted me for was for a standard E. quadricolor (Green BTA) I've been lurking around this LFS for several weeks now. (I always do this before buying any livestock...just to get a feel for the condition of the critters).
