question about yellow tang & starfish
hello to all i have questions about my yellow tang, i have a 55g fish only tank and in it i have a yellow tang a clown and a coral beauty. i got a red star fish and when i put him in the tank the yellow tang went up to it and started to peck it, so i got the star fish out and took it back to the lfs. Has anyone heard of this before? everyone i have talked to about it they were like "huh don't know why that happend" i really want a star fish and was thinking of trying it again what do you think?

The tang would not have likely harmed the star. My sense is the fish was being curious. Several species of fish will investigate and "pick" at new things added to the tank.
Was this a serpent star or some other type? Tangs are not notorious for doing damage to inverts so I'd say try another star when you're ready. hth.
