EEL in a 55g Fowlr
is it possible and if so what kinda eel? I am interested for sure.. my next question is what other fish could I keep with it

A snowflake would work well. You're limited in terms of some inverts, particularly crabs like sallys, porcelains, emeralds and the like. Fish tank mates are usually not at risk unless they happen to be near the eel when it is trying to snag some food. You can condition eels to feed predictably by using a feeding stick. This will reduce the chance of the eel going out and seeking a meal. They are not piscivores by nature, but small slender fish like certain gobies and blennies would not be advisable. A large clown like a maroon, tomato or cinammon, dwarf angel, some damsels...to name a few.
