Clownin Around?

...Ok...I can already hear everyone yelling NEWBIE!! ..this being my second post of the night and all. I have a 12g Nano Cube with 2 A.Percula clowns. I added them on Friday evening and I have the lights set to go out at 9pm. I took notice of how they act when the lights are out and they seem to prefer to stay in the upper left at the back of the tank near the filter. However, it seems that they are working very hard to stay there so that they don't get swept away with the "current" when they are supposed to be sleeping. Im worried that the pump that came with the aquarium might be too powerful cause it looks like they should be tired with the effort they use to stay in their spot. Should I do something or am I just experiencing "new person" paranoia?

Thanks.

Hi bguile,

Just being cautious it sounds like to me.

The fish would not venture to that spot in the aquarium unless they wanted to be there. This behavior is perfectly normal for clownfish; if they decide it's too much they'll find a new spot.

Phew...thanks again Scott. That really helps me settle a bit. Although I did wake up this morning to find there was only one fish in the tank when I went to feed them. I looked all around the tank thinking maybe it was hiding, then looked at the top of the tank praying it wasn't dead and floating. It still wasn't there. I then lifted the lid to find that one of them took a jump and ended up in the filter compartment . He looked like he was in jail trying to get back on the other side. Well, I rescued him and the two are swimming happily again. I'm just glad the lid was closed.
