Day vs night

Hi everyone,

I had some aggression from my yellow tang towards my new fish. So I took the YT out and put him in the QT. I plan on leaving him in there for a few days, but my question is what would be the best time to reintroduce him back into the tank. I was thinking maybe right before bed time just when the lights go out. Can anyone give me some suggestions?

Thanks,
Mo

I would move some rocks around so the territory has to be re-established. When I introduce fish to my tank, I usually re-arrange some rocks and leave the lights off for at least 4 hours or better; especially during acclimation periods. Yellow Tangs can be very aggressive towards newcomers, but eventually most fish will learn to adapt. I had the same problem when I introduced my Niger Trigger. My tang was trying to bully him, but the Trigger would not have it. Now, the tang just shadows him like they are friends or something. lol

What species is your new fish?

I know you don't have any live rock in your tank, but it might help a little if you rearranged the few pieces of dead coral skeletons you do have in there before putting the tang back into the tank.

You may be moving too fast with this tank considering that you just set it up last month.

Thanks for your replies. Sorry for any misunderstandings about the tank. I have had my tank set up for two months. It took a month for it to cycle. My first fish were the two false percs. They are 2 months old. After about 5 weeks I added my small yellow tang, yellow tail damsel and catilina golby. It is now 2 months(3 weeks later) and I wanted to add the final two fish for my set up, a small heniochus black and white butterflyfish and a royal gamma.
