Fighting mad!

Damn! I bought this beautiful "Coral Beauty" had him in the q-tank for a while. Just put him in the main tank and my powder brown tang started attacking him the B****!! The maroon did to a little. The Hippo looked like he was trying to defend the the little beauty. I got the beauty out and back in the q-tank and shut the light off. He's hiding and probably scared out of his poor little wits. Why the heck did the powder brown react like that? Only have 3 fish in the 90g Maroon clown, regal blue (hippo tang) and the powder brown tang. That powder brown is trouble I can see it i bet he thinks he owns the tank!! I hope the LFS will take back the beauty. He's just a little beat up, hopefully will recover. I'm pissed, the beauty is a beauty! now I cant have him.

Tangs should be the LAST fish you add to the tank. They can be quite aggresive, and the 2 that you have require alot of space. (not going to get into the tang debate here.) I think you are lucky that you have a q-tank to keep him in. I'm 90% certain this is the reation you will get anytime you add another fish. Unless you lose the Powder brown and possibly the maroon clown, those are quite aggresive as well.

Could you possibly remove the Powder Brown to the Q-tank for a week while the Coral Beauty adjusts to the main tank?

BTW, is this an Acanthurus japonicus that you are calling a Powder Brown or an A. nigricans?
