bed switch
At the moment i have a crushed coral base in my 45 gallon tank. I am interested in converting to reef and would like to switch to a sand bed, using non-live sand, to avoid problems. Would it be a disaster for my fish to be put back into a tank with no bacterial colony in the bed? I would still be using my wet/dry filter.
Thanks alot |

It should be OK as long as you aren't really grossly overstocked to begin with. You will still have bacteria in your wet/dry filter and the new sand will be colonized rapidly.
What do you have in the tank now? Just dead decorations or do you have any live rock?
