Red Hair algie Help

I am freakin out here, I have a 150 fowlr my tank has been up over a month now and I have problem with redhair algie. I hear that it will go away but it has been like I said a month now and still a lingering problem. I have a crushed coral bed, and I hear that if I pull that out and replace it with a sand sustrate it will solve my problems. I bought one of those tank cleaner packages from www.liveaquaria.com it was like 80 crabs, and 55 other crabs, and 50 snailes and the poor little buggers just cant keep up, any ideas??? I have red hair on my glass and on the crushed coral, it was on the live rock but the crabs and snailes have taken a liking to the live rocks and forgotten about the coral and the glass. There are like 2 of the 50 some sails on the glass, the rest are hangin on the live rock. I hope that somebody has some suggestions. thanks ps. i baught a sailfin tang hoping that it would help eat the stuff but it just likes the green algie and the every other day water changes are getting a little old. thanks

Ross,

The best advice I can give you is to slow down. You have a tank that is 6 weeks old that is going through a cycle and it sounds that you are stocking it pretty heavy. Let's look at a couple of things here.

1. What are your water parameters exactly? Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Temp., pH and Salinity?
2. Do you use RO/DI water?
3. What kind of equipment are you using on your 150? Please list all including lights and filters.

Hold off doing water changes. If you are doing water changes every other day, not knowing if the water is the source of the nutrient, this could be your problem.
