Bad algae
The live rock in my aquarium has become covered by green, brown and red algae, with almost no coraline growth. I have two 96W bulbs for a 22" deep tank. Ive also tried adding extra calcium and all that stuff, but its not working. what should i do to get rid of the bad algae, and get some coraline growing?

If no corraline is on your rock at the present time you will need to seed it in. I have noticed the best growth around the Ca level of 450 but 400 is NSW. How old is your system? The presence of the algae could be just your tank going through its cycles.

IF you have an lfs or a buddy in your area who would be willing to help you out all they would have to do is scrape a bunch off their glass and bag it for you. Some people myself included have had better corraline growth with junk lighting.

Lots of info to be had..... but the rocks/glass have to be clear in order for the coralline to grow. (I have a longspine urchin that keeps my rocks pristine... but they *do* eat coralline also... (in addition to as far as I've seen, any other kind of algae too) but if you do get one... Watch out for the spines, they HURT! (venemous and sharp!)
