How is my first tank doing?

Here is the deal i am cycling my 65 gal tank with LR after a week the ammonia levels went to 0. The nitrite levels went to 0.25 maybe a few days later. it is 16 days into the cycling process and nitrite is 0.25 and nitrate is very high and algae is grown all over the back wall of my tank. Also i think hair algae is started to grow on my live rock. Should i do a water change soon? Am i doing everything right by just letting it sit and not doing anything? Am i close to the end? Just wonding if i am getting my first sw tank off to the right start.

also my water temp will not go below 82 and i turned my heater off. Is this a problem and how can i solve it?

What kind of filtration do you have on the tank? Are you lighting the tank during the cycle? Do you have anything live in there besides the liverock?

82 degrees isn't a bad temperature but I wouldn't want it going any higher than that. What is the temp in the room the tank is kept in?

The room is about 78. I have a hang-on protein skimmer and a canister with carbon and with biowheels and i have 3 power heads for water movement.

Also i am lighting the tank i have the timer on for about 3 hours of light a day.

Running the carbon at this point is only going to dampen your success, because it absorbs the ammonia, if there is no ammonia to feed the bacterial colonies, they will die, or rather never colonize...so in effect, you will have no cycle. Remove the carbon, place something in the tank to create some ammonia (raw cocktail shrimp or something similar) and when the shrimp starts to disintegrate, (turn to powder) start testing your water again.

Just remove the carbon..... Running the filter will add to the water movement, which is very beneficial at this point.
