Snail Question...
Hey all,
I have had my lights on for a while and the water temp has risen...81-82 deg. so as I started to turn them off, I noticed that 3 snails were at the top of the tank, partially out of the water. Is that a sign the water is too hot? or do snails(astrea, nass. and margarita) sometimes do that? I thought they always had to be submerged... Thanks, Sean |

My mexican turbo never gets out of the water but my tulips got partly out of it plenty of times.

Sometime algae grows at the surface of the water and when snails are at that level, they're usually there just to get a good feeding. Nothing to worry about.

Snails also go to the surface for air, again no worries. They're safer up there too

Thanks all..I was a bit worried they were trying to commit suicide!
Now my Banded Corel shrimp molted!! I have only had it for about 2 weeks!. Do I need to remove the exoskeleton or should I let the tank take care or it? Thanks, Sean |

Let the tank take care of it, someone might find it as a tasty treat.
