FO and Bioballs
hi everbody,
I'm reading a lot about bioballs and everbody say is not good. But my tank is FO no live rock at all, and I don't want to get live rock. So, What do I do ? can I have problems with this ? or just keep the bioballs and take care with nitrates ? thanks |

Hi Sergio,
Yes in your situtation where you are not using Liverock, and since it is a Fish Only marine tank, the wet/dry filter is your best option at this point. For a much more natural look, and natural form of filtration, you might consider the use of cured livercok in the future. ![]() |

I know the live rock is much better than bioballs, but can I have problems in the future using bioballs ?.
I just don't want live rock because is expensive, the price of live rock for my tank I can set-up a bigger tank maybe change my 75 for 110 gallons, and I realy like the corals skeleton. The problem using bioballs is just the nitrate in the future ? or there is anything else ? Because the nitrates I can fix doing water change right ? thanks |

Regular water changes, not over feeding and effective protien skimming and you should be able to maintain the nitrate levels with some ease.
