another rookie question

I have noticed the hair algae in my tank getting shorter. 2 quetions here....

Is it getting shorter because the skimmer is doing its job by taking away its food? and.. With the algae getting short i think its dying off. when it dies it basically becomes an organic food source for other algae, Correct? Full circle to the skimmer taking it away.

Thanks

in my tank the hair algae gets eaten by small copepods. they are like little grazing cows. i even noticed some of them are bright green(maybee from the algae?)

i think that if it dies it will be consumed by other alga too.

I have neer heard of anyone noticing a decrease in hair algae from copepod grazing; must be an amazingly large population you have.

The hair algae could be getting shorter due to ever decreasing nutrient sources; if it is dieing off due to a lack of nutrients, I would not worry about other nussience algaes appearing; the nutrients to fuel them must already be scarce.
