My friend just got a got a lion as well and at fist he had the same problem. The way that lions feed in the wild, is for them to wait for something to swim in fornt of it then they attack, they dont like to chase it around like a trigger or puffer might. Because the gold fish is freshwater it would stop swimming the second it hit the salt and would float around on the top of the tank. while the lion looked interested, because it was his first couple days in the tank he didnt swim up to get it. So my friend stabed the gold fish with a coat hanger ( you should probaly try to find somthing better) and put the fish right in the lions face, he took one look at it and ate.
I have done no reaserch on my own about this so i am going to tell you what my friends have told me. Frozen foosd is much better for youre fish, and goldfish are very dirty, and because they are so fatty they are one of the most un healthy things to feed your lion if im horribaly wrong im sorry like i said these are all second hand info and experences, and i have done no research on my own. |

) but everything I've read on different forums mention feeding your lions goldfish is not a good thing. Something about the fatty tissue of the goldfish.

yes i know
I would like to point out that i said he SHOULDNT feed his lion gold fish, the reason i stated was because they were to fatty. I dont know if you didnt mean it that way or if you werent reasponding to me. Any way you have confermed the fact that he shouldnt feed his gold fish.

spbaden, I was just confirming what you had said. I'd hate for this guy to spend money on such a beautiful fish and have it die because of bad feeding habits.
Kind of like a friend of mine a few years back that bought a chinchilla(sp) for his kids. After a few weeks, it died. He went back to place and they were nice enough to give him another one. Few weeks later....that one was dead. He went back to place and was getting another and was just talking to the guy about the problems he had. So guy started asking about feeding arrangements. He was giving him the normal chinchilla food but happened to toss in some celery 2 - 3 times a week for the critters. Guy told him that chinchillas could not digest celery and that's what had been killing the animals.![]() |

Hi everbody,
thanks for the tip, my lion is eating krill now, fist I shake the krill with my hand for he thinks is alive and after he eat. He's not eating to much, maybe 2 or 3 pieces of krill every day, but he's learning to eat the krill and this is a good news. thanks |
