did i cycle?

I did a fishless cycle in my 55, i would poor a little ammonia daily probly about a little more than a 2 table spoons a day. Every thing went normal and i got to the point were i could put in 2 table spoons a day and it would be complely cycled both ammonia and nitrite in 14 hours. I put in one yellow tang who was sick. there is still always a little bit of ammonia and some times nitrite. I have used 2 of those packets of live bacteria that are sapposed to cycle a 55 over night, one to hurry up and end my cycle and one after i noticed thet the ammonia wasnt going down on its own. I am using melefix and pedafix and a hexamita fighter called discomed. I figure that either the medication is harming the bacteria, or i didnt use enough ammonia to cycle with (even so the packet should have solved that). I am using some ammonia detox to keep the ammonia down untill i can do another watter change an then i will use another packet. I used RO water to do the after cycle water change.

I agree too much Chemistry! The one thing that is REQUIRED in this hobby is Patience! Do you have Live rock? What are you doing for filtration? Skimmer? DSB? Bare Bottom? How long has the tank been set up? I would et the fish out and in to an established tank, he will have a better chance of survival there...
