    Unhappy algae die off

ok so i';ve had my tank for about 10 months now... everything was doing fine besides some ick pproblems... i had a lot of algae growth... a lot of dark green on my liverock... lime green on my tank walls... and this aqua green on my crushed coral....

well my problem is that for the last few days my algae on my rock has been dying off..... and i'm wondering if anybody knows why this would happen or how to stop it.... i have tested my water everything is fine.... my temp stays around 80-82...

my set up.... 29g tank with 15lb of live rock, 26wat light(coral light),emperor filter, powerhead, heater, sand and crushed coral substrate, one small sailfin tang, and small maroon clown, and one small niger trigger

    WELCOME to REEFLAND!!
The algae you're describing is it sort of thick, does it collect air bubbles? As your tank continues to mature you will experience coming and going of algaes. Some of them can turn into a headache if they stay around.

no it doesn't really have any airbubbles.... and its not JUST green... it is some what speckled with red algae... the two kinda mixed a while back and from far away it makes the main portion look black but closer up you can see the colors... it just covers the LR like a blanket... hugging all of the bumbs and stuff

    HI Notyourmojo2,
I wish I had your problem! Like Samper said, algae will come and go. I guess it depends on what you want in your tank but you are the first person ive heard that was upset about it dieing off. Algae at least in my tanks come and go. so far Ive been lucky and they do GO!!! but not in my 1 tank. It figures that it is my biggest and nicest tank to. I wouldnt worry about it if its just red and green algae. If it was coraline algae then check your calcium levels but it sounds like its just nuisences algae that your talking about.

Ive got green hair algae reel bad in my 1 tank. Going to have to soon do something if it doesnt start to slow down.

If I was you I wouldnt worry about it. But I dont like it, some do. Feed your fish more should perk it back up.

Do a search for cyanobacteria on this forum and try to find some pics. It sounds like that's what you have.
