Too much water movement?

Is there such a thing?

I just added a handful of small (1-1.5 in) blue-green chromis and it appears they may be getting tired dealing with the water movement in the 100 gal. tank.

I have a rio 1700 powerhead in the tank along with another 1800 serving as the return pump from my sump.

The more the better IMO however if you are keeping certain inverts say softies they can't take a huge amount of flow. Some lps prefer a lagoon type environment. For sps corals they almost can't get enough flow. Your fish should be able to handle anything you can throw at them. Sometimes on the reefs the current gets so swift it's almost impossible to dive them. I don't know the stats on your pumps but I'm sure you could add more and be fine.

The more the betterThere are limits to what water currents one should have and this differ from F/O to reef tanks, but yet you not want a Hurricane.

They're probably tired because they don't get any exercise at the pet store and now they are in high current getting all kinds of exercise. My clownfish was like that when I first got him, just feed your fishes till they're full and make sure they don't get too skinny and they'll become more fit and healthy.

Think of a couch potato person getting a bunch of exercise all of the sudden.
